Our award-winning, specialist dance education course has achieved consistently outstanding results since our inception in 2000. We are dedicated to equipping each Dance For All (DFA) student with all the skills, experience and qualifications that are essential for a sustainable and varied career in the dance profession. Our unique approach to professional dance education not only gives DFA graduates the competitive edge in professional auditions, but also promotes career flexibility through access to the ISTD dance teaching qualifications included within the course.

Performance Qualifications

During our two-year full-time course students are extensively trained to develop into versatile performers and dance educators, gaining a thorough grounding in all the skills, techniques and qualifications needed to pursue a professional dance career.

  • HND in Professional Dance Performance, in collaboration with Edinburgh College, an SQA approved centre. Edinburgh College website

Students may enter examinations with the following dance societies:

  • Royal Academy of Dance: RAD Ballet to professional level Advanced 2 

  • Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing: ISTD Modern, Tap and National to professional level Advanced 2

  • Spanish Dance Society: SDS Spanish dance  – DFA is the only Spanish Dance Society training centre in Scotland.

Dance Teaching Qualifications

Our comprehensive Dance Teacher Training includes:

  • ISTD Diplomas in Dance Education (DDE) in tap and modern - DFA is an Approved Centre for ISTD Training

  • Placement and mentoring for those wishing to train as a RAD teacher through the Royal Academy of Dance

Inspirational Tutoring

Principal Director Tracy Hawkes leads an inspirational faculty of highly experienced and qualified dance tutors, including many of the most respected and renowned dance professionals in the business today.

Each member of staff is dedicated to imparting their extensive knowledge, skill and artistry to the students. Meet our wonderful tutors here

Workshops and masterclasses are frequently given by visiting guest choreographers, performers and directors currently working in the dance and theatre profession. This offers our students opportunities to experience first-hand the current styles and trends.​

How to apply

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • 16yrs+ (applications from 15 year old candidates may be considered on an individual basis)

  • Highers and/or NAT 5 Qualifications

  • SCQF Level 6 in Dance and/or substantial previous experience in any of the dance styles mentioned above

  • Based on a practical audition, we look for potential, commitment, energy and focus

  • You must be physically and academically able to take part fully in all practical and theoretical classes

Fees
2024 – 2025

Annual Private Tuition Fees payable by all students:

  • With SAAS HND Funding: £5,500 (inc. VAT) per year

  • Without SAAS HND Funding: £6,800 (inc. VAT) per year

    Fees are paid to Dance For All as a single payment at the start of the course year or in monthly instalments by direct debit.

Additional costs may include:

  • Dance wear, dance shoes, DFA uniform

  • Costume hire – any show costumes provided by DFA

  • RAD ballet, ISTD modern, tap & national, ISTD Diploma in Dance Education (DDE)  and SDS Spanish dance examination fees when applicable.
